A Bit of History
Built in 1763, this 75-meter Baroque tower is attached to the Clérigos Church. It is one of the most famous landmarks in Portugal and provides a 360-degree view of the city. To reach the top, you must climb 225 narrow steps.
Did You Know?
Historically, it served as a guide for sailors to find Porto when approaching from the sea.
Local Tip
Visit the church for free to see the beautiful architecture without the long queue. You can also check out the multimedia light show held inside the church, which is very popular with locals.
Be Aware!
The stairs are extremely narrow. It can feel very claustrophobic as people go up and down at the same time, and the top is often too crowded to really enjoy the view.
